Data Management is a subject where you can quickly get lost in theory, after all, almost everything has interfaces with data. When do you have a complete overview? Where do you start? Why doesn't management get it? And what about Data Owners?
There are many books to read on this subject, as well as several collections of best practices (DAMA-DMBoK and DCAM are the most 'applied'). When you get lost in the theory, there is generally not much of a practical application.
In the Data Management in Practice training you will be guided by an experienced Data Management specialist who has set up Data Management in a practical way at several organizations.
This training is aimed at organizations and participants who want to get started with Data Management in a practical way, but don't feel like having entire books with standards read to them. You want to get started!
After this training:
- You know the difference between Data Governance and Data Management, and you understand why this is important
- You have practical insights into the coherence of the five focus areas discussed
- You have pragmatic (theoretical) tools to get your Data Management flywheel moving, think of:
- What you have to take into account in a Data Governance design
- What is minimally contained in a Metadata administration
- How to make data quality quantifiable
Prerequisites to follow the Data Management in Practice training
As a participant in this course, it is important to have a feeling for the Data field. For example, from a background such as Data Scientist, Information Management, Data Engineering or Data Warehousing.

- Data quality
We approach from the big picture, focusing on the relationship between these topics. The application in practice is always crucial: what does this mean for the organization of your data management? And what do you notice in the daily work of you and your colleagues?
